    Dr Gerard Tennyson MVB MRCVS

    Veterinary Surgeon

Clinical Director, Head Vet, First Opinion Veterinary Surgeon

I qualified as a veterinary surgeon in 2005 from Dublin. After spending just over a year in mixed practice in Ireland I moved to England to work with small animals only. I love all aspects of veterinary medicine and surgery and find it a rewarding career which involves constant progression and improvement through the benefit of experience, attending CPD courses, learning from colleagues and working alongside our referral clinicians. I love that every day and every case brings new challenges. I progressed from a junior veterinary surgeon when I joined Rutland House in Januray 2009 to becoming Clinical Director for the first opinion side of the practice in November 2018. I am involved with the management of the practice but my passion is the clinical side. In particular I enjoy medicine and the diagnostic imaging investigations of cases. I am lucky that our equipment includes digital radiography, ultrasound, CT scanner and will have an MRI scanner arriving soon. I have completed my certificate in advanced veterinary practice (Cert AVP) and hope to sit an examination in the diagnostic imaging components soon. I juggle working life with a busy home life. My wife and I have 2 toddlers to keep us busy with a third child on the way. We also have 2 Cocker Spaniel dogs. Never a dull moment. I love spending time with the kids and doing family fun activites. I also enjoy running, having completed my first marathon in October 2018 and aiming to partake in another in 2019.
